Privacy Policy

The short version: Guiderio works without an account. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number. The app identifies your device with a random ID it makes up on first launch, and the only things we remember about you are the guides you favorite, unlock, and listen to. No ads, no analytics trackers, no selling of data.

1. Who we are

Guiderio ("we", "us") provides audio guides for museums, castles, and city landmarks through the Guiderio mobile app. For any privacy question or request, contact us at guiderio.developer@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect and why

2.1 Anonymous device identifier

On first launch, the app generates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it in your device's secure storage. This identifier is not derived from your hardware, phone number, advertising ID, or any personal detail — it is a random number that only means something inside Guiderio. We use it to issue the app short-lived access tokens and to remember your content across sessions. If you uninstall the app, the identifier is deleted and cannot be recovered; a reinstall starts with a fresh identity.

2.2 Content activity linked to that identifier

Stored on our servers, keyed only to the anonymous identifier above:

2.3 Technical data

Like almost every online service, our servers briefly process your IP address and basic request metadata to deliver content, prevent abuse, and rate-limit requests. This data is used transiently for security and operations and is not used to build profiles.

3. Data that never leaves your device

4. Third-party services

The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs. It does communicate with the following service providers, which receive your IP address (and, where noted, related technical data) when the corresponding feature is used:

5. Where your data is stored

Guiderio's servers are hosted in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). Media files are delivered through Cloudinary's global content delivery network so that audio and images load quickly wherever you are.

6. What we don't do

7. How long we keep data

Content activity (favorites, redeemed codes, listening history) is kept as long as your anonymous identity is active so that your guides remain available to you. Because the identifier is deleted when you uninstall the app, any server-side data tied to it becomes permanently unreachable and effectively orphaned. You can also ask us at any time to delete the data linked to your device — see section 9.

8. Children

Guiderio's content is suitable for general audiences, but the app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Since the app collects no names, contact details, or precise location from anyone, the same minimal footprint applies to all users.

9. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or another region with data-protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email guiderio.developer@gmail.com. Note that because we identify devices only by a random ID that is not linked to your name or contact details, we may be unable to determine which data belongs to your device unless you can provide that identifier.

10. This website

This website sets no tracking cookies. Your language preference is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and is never transmitted to us. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which involves your browser sending your IP address to Google's servers.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data — for example, by adding accounts or new features — we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change ships.
